Introduced in Artec Studio 15.1, the HD mode (High Definition mode) is a completely new algorithm that greatly enhances the quality of Artec Eva and Artec Leo scans.
Performed on raw Eva or Leo scans, "HD reconstruction" is a complex process that requires a lot of computing power and memory.
In order for the algorithm to perform optimally, an adequate GPU is required: a modern NVIDIA graphics card with at least 2GB of VRAM (for Artec Eva) or at least 4GB of VRAM (for Artec Leo).
For optimal calculation times, an NVIDIA card with a CUDA compute capability of at least 6.1 and 8+ GB of VRAM is highly recommended.
If the graphics card does not meet the minimum requirements (or an outdated graphics driver is installed), the HD reconstruction algorithm will be executed on the CPU instead of the GPU.
This will cause the algorithm to perform many times slower, potentially taking multiple hours to complete even the simplest calculation.
The table below contains a list of laptops that were tested by our partners**. We have divided the list into 3 sections based on the HD reconstruction speed of each GPU:
Slow: lower 2.5 FPS
Normal: 2.5 - 4.5 FPS
Fast: 4.5 FPS and higher
(The FPS reconstruction rate is a measure of how many raw frames the algorithm can process per second, and can be calculated by dividing the number of frames by the time elapsed during HD reconstruction).
(!) We would highly appreciate it if you could fill out this questionnaire, enabling us to add your laptop to the list below.
