Artec Studio freezes or crashes (conflict with antivirus software)

The antivirus software installed on your computer might, in certain cases, interfere with Artec Studio and cause it to malfunction. While we specifically whitelist each release of Artec Studio with all major antivirus developers, we still see occurrences where the program is mistakenly identified as a potential threat and blocked.

If you have antivirus software running on your computer and you are experiencing one of the following issues, you may need to temporarily disable it:

  • Artec Studio fails to launch
  • Artec Studio freezes or crashes when you attempt to open or save data
  • Artec Studio crashes regularly while running post-processing algorithms
  • Artec Studio freezes or crashes when you attempt to scan

Please note that for some of the issues listed above, there may be causes other than the antivirus software. Make sure that your system and graphics are compatible with Artec Studio.

After temporarily disabling the antivirus software, observe whether the issues disappear. If yes, check whether your antivirus software allows you to add a permanent exception for Artec Studio in the antivirus/firewall settings. You might need to contact the applicable antivirus service provider for technical assistance.

In some very rare cases, issues caused by the antivirus software may persist even after the software has been disabled and/or an exception for Artec Studio has been added. Such behavior was first observed on a few systems running the Avast antivirus software. In this case, completely uninstalling the antivirus software (and switching to a different antivirus service provider) may be a potential solution.
