EUROCOM Sky X4C

July 24, 2019

We've recently tested a custom EUROCOM Sky X4C high-performance laptop, provided by the manufacturer, with excellent results.

Specifications:

  • Windows 10 Professional
  • Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6GHz
  • 64 GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, 8GB GDDR5
  • USB 3.0 controller
  • 3.4kg/7.48 lbs
  • 15.6-inch screen

Major advantage:

This EUROCOM laptop came equipped with the USB 3.0 controller, so that it is not affected by the USB performance issue described in this article. This means that both Eva and Spider will operate at full FPS, without the need for any hardware or software modifications by the user.

Moreover, the laptop is equipped with a very resourceful NVIDIA GPU, which allows us to render "heavy" raw data without considerable delays.

Scanning:

We've obtained excellent real-time performance results.

Laptop connected to power outlet (including RTF mode)

Laptop on battery (including RTF mode)

Average FPS Eva 15.7 15.4
Average FPS Spider 7.5 7.3

For Eva, we've collected 16k frames (5k for the RTF mode) with no visible lags, both - with and without power connection. For Spider, we've collected 7k frames (3k for the RTF mode), accordingly.

Processing:

We've test-processed a "heavy" Leo scanner project in Artec Studio with default settings. Global registration of ~70 GB of raw scanned data took about 20 minutes. Sharp fusion of ~50 GB of raw scanned data, with the resolution of 3mm, completed in about 1 hour.

Conclusion:

EUROCOM Sky X4C provides excellent performance with both Eva and Spider scanners. It can be used in the field, without the power outlet, with only a slight reduction of scanning speed. The laptop is also suitable for post-processing large projects, as long as we have enough RAM memory, including the virtual memory on the physical drive.
