If you're encountering detection issues with the Artec Spider II 3D scanner, follow these steps to resolve the problem.
Make sure that Artec Spider 2 is connected via a Thunderbolt 4 port to the computer. Usual Type-C won’t work, Thunderbolt port is required. Thunderbolt ports are typically marked with a lightning symbol next to the physical port.
You can refer to the system requirements for Artec Spider II to ensure compatibility with your computer.
How it might look like in the specifications:
After Artec Studio 19 or newer is installed, open the Windows Device Manager. Check that the Artec Spider 2 is recognized as an “Artec3D drivers” - “Artec 3D scanner device” instance. If it is recognized, “Activate” or “Rent” the scanner via Artec Installation Center, it should work properly in Artec Studio after that.
Issue 1: the scanner is recognized as an unknown (typically PCI) device with an exclamation mark
Cause: drivers are not properly installed.
Solution: Launch Artec Installation Center with Administrator rights, install the Artec Spider 2 Add-on.
Check how the scanner is recognized in the Device Manager. If the scanner is still recognized as an unknown device, please contact support.
Issue 2: a scanner is not recognized, there is no notification about the scanner being connected to the computer, there is no instance in the device manager corresponding to the scanner.
Solution:
- Update the computer’s chipset and Thunderbolt drivers.
- If the device is not detected, try restarting the computer by holding down the power button for an extended period or by disconnecting the battery and power cable.
- Check that Thunderbolt is turned on in BIOS.
- If the computer has a Thunderbolt manager installed, ensure that the device is allowed to connect to the computer. In some cases, devices are blocked by default.
