Razer released new compact and powerful laptop for gamers called Razer Blade. We usually say "Hardware that suits gamers also suits us", so we gave it a try.
Here is the link to the laptop at manufacturer's web-site: http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade
Specs in brief:
- Windows 8.1 (64-Bit)
- Intel Core i7-4702HQ
- 8 Gb RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 870M
- USB 3.0 port x 3 (SuperSpeed)
The biggest advantage is that it is ultra-portable laptop of minor weight (4.47lbs / 2.03kg, 14.0" display).
Please note that 8 Gb is usually the minimum amount of RAM that we recommend for Eva, but if you are scanning something of several meteres length, it is still possible - just stop scanning from time to time and unload the data from RAM.
More results of our tests can be found below:
- Laptop screen is also a touch-pad which is convenient.
- USB 3.0 provides 15 FPS of scanning speed for Eva.
- 3000 frames can be stored in RAM at one time. If you require more frames to capture, then it is a good idea to pause scanning and unload some previously captured scans from memory.
- Real-time fusion works at a good speed.
- You can post-process and texturize projects on this laptop, but please keep in mind, that you will have around 5-6 Gb available for storing scans and processing them (about 2 Gb is used for Windows needs)
- Due to high screen resolution of 3200x1800 the buttons in Artec Studio (SCAN, EDIT, TOOLS, etc) seem smaller than usual, but it is not very inconvenient.
