How to install drivers for your 3D sensor (Artec Studio 9, 10, 11, 12)

This article contains some tips to help you install the correct drivers for your 3D sensor. As the first step, choose what Artec Studio version you are using and scroll the article to the corresponding section.

 

Artec Studio 11 and 12 (Ultimate or Trial edition)

When you are installing Artec Studio 11 or 12, the following window will appear:

1.1. Kinect v1

Choose the option "Open Kinect for Windows SDK v1.8 download page" if you have Kinect for Windows or Kinect for Xbox.

As soon as the Artec Studio installation is finished, you will be redirected to Kinect for Windows SDK 1.8.

Compatibility information:

  • We can not guarantee that Kinect for Xbox will work correctly on all computers, as it was originally developed only for the XBox. We recommend using Kinect for Windows.
  • Kinect v1 is compatible with Windows 7 and 8, stable work with Windows 10 is not guaranteed.

1.2. Kinect v2 or Kinect for Xbox One

Choose option "Open Kinect for Windows Runtime 2.0 download page" if you have Kinect for Windows v2 or Kinect for Xbox One.

As soon as the Artec Studio installation is finished, you will be redirected to Kinect for Windows Runtime 2.0.

Compatibility information:

  • We can not guarantee that Kinect for Xbox One will work correctly on all computers, as it was originally developed only for XBox One. We recommend using Kinect for Windows v2.
  • Windows 8 and USB 3.0 are required.
  • Windows 7 is not supported.
  • Stable work with Windows 10 is not guaranteed.

1.3. Intel RealSense (F200, SR300, R200, XYZprinting 3D scanner)

Compatibility information:

  • F200, R200 and XYZprinting 3D scanner work with Windows 8 and higher. USB 3.0 is required.
  • SR300 requires Windows 10, check here for more information.

Installation sequence:

  1. Disconnect your sensor from the PC prior to the drivers installation (if possible).
  2. As soon as the Artec Studio installation is finished, navigate to Intel SDK download page.
  3. Download and install Depth Camera Manager and SDK Runtime Distributables (see exact versions and links below)

For F200 sensor / XYZprinting 3D scanner:

  1. Depth Camera Manager ver. 1.4 (download link).
  2. Intel Runtime Distributable:
    • For Artec Studio 11.0: version 8.0 (download link)
    • For Artec Studio 11.1: version 10.0 (download link)
    • For Artec Studio 11.2 and 12.0: Intel RealSense Runtime is installed automatically, so install only Depth Camera Manager from p.1.

For R200 sensor:

  1. Depth Camera Manager ver. 2.1 (download link)
  2. Intel Runtime Distributable
    • For Artec Studio 11.0: version 8.0 (download link)
    • For Artec Studio 11.1: version 10.0 (download link)
    • For Artec Studio 11.2 and 12.0: Intel RealSense Runtime is installed automatically, so install only Depth Camera Manager from p.1.

For SR300 sensor:

  1. Depth Camera Manager ver 3.1 (download link)
  2. Intel Runtime Distributable:
    • For Artec Studio 11.0: version 8.0 (download link)
    • For Artec Studio 11.1: version 10.0 (download link)
    • For Artec Studio 11.2 and 12.0: Intel RealSense Runtime is installed automatically, so install only Depth Camera Manager from p.1.

Note: if you are using Wacom Mobile Studio Pro with built-in Intel sensor, then all necessary Intel components are either pre-installed already or installed together with Artec Studio 11/12. There is no need to manually download and install extra Intel components in this case.

1.4. PrimeSense / Asus

Note that the Artec Studio 11 installation automatically includes the PrimeSense/Asus drivers, unless you clear the checkbox "PrimeSense Carmine / ASUS XTion drivers" on the previous page of Artec Studio 11/12 installer.

 


Artec Studio 10 (Ultimate edition)

When you are installing Artec Studio 10, the following window will appear, asking you if you intend to use a third-party 3D sensor:

Note that the Artec Studio 10 installation automatically includes the PrimeSense/Asus drivers, unless you clear the checkbox "PrimeSense Carmine / ASUS XTion drivers" on the previous page of Artec Studio 10 installer:

2.1 Kinect for Windows / Kinect for XBox

Choose option "Open Kinect for Windows SDK v1.8 download page" if you have Kinect for Windows or Kinect for Xbox.

As soon as the Artec Studio installation is finished, you will be redirected to Kinect for Windows SDK 1.8.

Compatibility information:

  • We can not guarantee that Kinect for Xbox will work correctly on all computers, as it was oginally developed only for XBox. We recommend using Kinect for Windows.

2.2. Kinect for Windows v2 / Kinect for XBox One

Choose option "Open Kinect for Windows Runtime 2.0 download page" if you have Kinect for Windows v2 or Kinect for Xbox One.

As soon as the Artec Studio installation is finished, you will be redirected to Kinect for Windows Runtime 2.0.

Compatibility information:

  • Only for use with Windows 8 and USB 3.0.
  • We can not guarantee that Kinect for Xbox One will work correctly on all computers, as it was originally developed only for XBox One. We recommend using Kinect for Windows v2.

2.3. Intel RealSense (F200, R200)

If you have Intel RealSense F200 or R200, choose option "Open Intel RealSense SDK download page" and you will be re-directed to Intel drivers page.

Compatibility information:

  • F200 and R200 work with Windows 8 and higher.
  • USB 3.0 is required.

Installation sequence:

  1. Disconnect your sensor from the PC prior to the drivers installation (if possible).
  2. As soon as the Artec Studio installation is finished, you will be redirected to Intel SDK page.
  3. Download and install Depth Camera Manager and SDK Runtime Distributables (see exact versions and links below, pay attention at your Artec Studio version)

For F200 sensor and Artec Studio 10.1:

For R200 sensor and Artec Studio 10.1:

For F200 sensor and Artec Studio 10.0:

For R200 sensor and Artec Studio 10.0:

 

Artec Studio 9

When you are installing Artec Studio 9, the following window will appear, asking you if you intend to use a third-party 3D sensor:

3.1. PrimeSense/Asus sensors

Choose this option if you have the following devices:

  • ASUS XTion
  • ASUS XTion Pro
  • ASUS Xtion Pro Live
  • Carmine 1.08
  • Carmine 1.09

System will automatically install OpenNI 2.0 on your machine.

  • Important! To make your Asus XTion Pro Live work with OpenNI 2.0. drivers you should upgrade its firmware. Here is the link to the instructions.

3.2. Kinect for Windows / Kinect for XBox

Choose this option if you have Kinect for Windows or Kinect for Xbox.

As soon as the Artec Studio installation is finished, you will be redirected to Kinect for Windows SDK 1.8.

  • We can not guarantee that Kinect for Xbox will work correctly on all computers, as it was originally developed only for XBox. We recommend using Kinect for Windows.

3.3. Skip drivers installation

Choose "I do not want to install drivers" option if you would like to skip the drivers installation step (for example, if you do not plan to use any 3D sensors or if you plan to install drivers later).
