Here are some quick answers to some quick questions!
  • What is Artec Ray?

Artec Ray II is a lightning-fast long-range 3D scanner for professional captures with high accuracy.It is ideal solution for precise capture of huge objects such as wind turbines, ship propellers or airplanes, bridges or factory floors, forensic scenes or archeology sites, this professional LiDAR solution produces 3D scans of the highest quality, whether your application is reverse engineering, inspection, creating true-to-life digital twins, documenting crime scenes, or making change-over-time assessments of civil infrastructure.

  • How far can I scan with Artec Ray II?

Artec Ray has a working range of 0.5 meter up to 130 meters.

  • What is the accuracy of Artec Ray?

Artec Ray II has the following 3D point accuracy:

1.9 mm @ 10 m
2.9 mm @ 20 m
5.3 mm @ 40 m

  • What kind of power source does Artec Ray  II use?

Artec Ray II can scan on battery power (2 batteries), or be plugged into mains (100-240V). The scanner is supplied with 4 batteries and battery charger. Two batteries last ~2.5 - 3 hours. The batteries are hot-swappable.

(!) Power supply is an additional accessory and should be purchased separately.

In order to make  scan both batteries should be inserted into the battery compartment. 

 

  • How can I scan with Artec Ray II?

  1. Start the scan from the scanner itself
  2. Connecting wirelessly and scanning via iOS/ Android Remote App (WIndows Tablets are not suported, iPad support will be included in the next version of Artec Remote)
  • What is the Wi-Fi password to connect to Artec Ray?

Wifi password can be found in Settings -> System Information

 

 

  • Can I use any USB Flash drive to store the scanned data?

No, it is  not posible to use any other USB Flash driv only those suplied with Artec Ray II (2 USB drives are included in the default package). All scanned drive is stored on USB drive. It is capacity 256 GB.

 

Artec 3D USB drive has an industrial Grade - durable and reliable enough to withstand harsh conditions such as extreme temperatures, vibrations, shocks, and humidity. The grade is confirmed by testing.

 

  •  Can Artec Ray II be used in a non-horizontal position (upside down/sideways)?

Yes, Artec Ray II can be used upside down (inverted 180°, or angled 90°).

 

  • Time taken  for a full 360 dome scan with different scanning settings

 

 

  • What tripods can be used with Artec RayII ?

The Artec Ray II scanner must always be used in combination with a tripod. Placing the scanner on the floor, table, or any other object is not recommended under any circumstances.
The tripod must be able to support at least 5 kg (11 lbs). Most engineering or surveying tripod should work fine. Heavier tripods will work best because they are more resistant to wind gusts and inadvertent tip-over. The Artec Ray II has a special adapter  to setup it on the industrial tripod with  5/8" mounting screw.

  • What kinds of targets can be used with Artec Ray II?
